An attempt to smuggle 20 ancient coins to Canada was thwarted Saturday at Cairo International Airport.

The artifacts, belonging to Muhammad Ali Pasha era (1769 – 1849), were hidden in an Egyptian passenger's bag.

He was referred to the prosecution while the artifacts were seized by police
