The Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church has congratulated the Egyptian people over the completion of the New Suez Canal Project due to open in early August.
In a statement late on Thursday, the church sent congratulations to the Egyptian people for achieving "a very important step towards development and prosperity."
The statement referred to the exploitation of the Suez Canal's unique location to lure international investments.
The church has praised the efforts exerted by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and the Egyptian Armed Forces to enhance the development process in the country.
