Cairo - MENA
The Ministry of Antiquities has retrieved 340 artifacts that date back to different eras of ancient Egypt.
The pieces had been seized by the Jordanian customs authority at Aqaba Port, said Shaaban Abdel Gawwad, the general supervisor of the department of restored monuments, Sunday.
Abdel Gawwad greatly appreciated efforts exerted by the Jordanian authorities to foil the smuggling attempt.
Egypt and Jordan are parties to an agreement to protect and retrieve stolen cultural property and counter illegal trade in monuments.
