Culture Minister Abdel Wahed el-Nabawi

Egypt's Culture Minister Abdel Wahed el Nabawi and his Senegalese counterpart Mbagnick Ndiaye signed on Sunday a deal to bolster cultural ties and cooperation between the two states.

The agreement, to be effective for three years, focuses on how to protect heritage and museums, and hold cultural weeks in the two countries.

Nabawi expressed his ministry's readiness to send art pieces to Senegal and train Senegalese cadres on ways of managing museums.

Ndiaye, for his part, praised the deeply-rooted relations between Egypt and Senegal.

"The Senegalese people are fond of the Egyptian culture," he said, adding that Egypt was chosen as a guest of honor at a ceremony marking the inauguration of a Dakar-based major museum later this year.
