The Awqaf Ministry called Tuesday on all its bodies and directorates not to allow any social or preaching activities at mosques before obtaining permits, as the parliamentary elections are set to take place soon.

"The move aims at protecting mosques from being used for political purposes before the elections," the ministry said in a statement.
