Culture Minister Helmy el Namnam affirmed the depth of historic relations binding the Egyptian and Armenian peoples especially at the cultural level.
The Armenian Egyptians offered great contributions in many domains such as cinema, photography and caricature, he said.
These remarks came at a speech delivered by the Head of the Foreign Cultural Relations Sector Ayman Abdel Hady on behalf of Namnam during inaugurating the Armenian culture festival in el Gomhoria theater.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Culture Ministry said the national anthem of Egypt and Armenia were played at the start of the ceremony, followed by Armenian heritage songs.
Abdel Hady said that the ceremony shows the depth of ties between the two countries, adding that it kicks off in Cairo and then its activities will be held in different Egyptian governorates.
The ceremony was attended by actor Anoshka, Armenian ambassador here and Foreign Minister Assistant Hamdy Sanad Loza.
