Aleppo , Syria - Arab Today
Bana Alabed, a seven-year-old girl in the Syrian city of Aleppo, has thanked J. K. Rowling for sending her the Harry Potter e-books.
Alabed tweeted on Friday saying she likes to read “to forget the war” around her. In an earlier tweet, she is seen holding a banner reading: “Stand with Aleppo.”
The girl’s tweets have gained attention from the renowned British author.
When Alabed’s mother Fatemah tweeted Rowling about her daughter wanting to read one of her stories, the writer and her literary agent quickly responded, realizing they could send over e-books to the child.
Her agent told Alabed: “Would you be able to read an e-book? If so I’d be happy to get a copy over to you.”
Later, Bana got the books, and is now reading Harry Potter with her parents.
Alabed tweeted her thanks with a picture to which the author replied: “Love you too, Bana!“
On her Twitter account, which is managed by Fatemah, Alabed regularly shares pictures of the city and her home.
