Abu Dhabi - WAM
Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi, has concluded its participation in the Beijing International Book Fair which took place from 23rd – 27th August, to promote its series of publications and translations, and attract participants for the 2018 Abu Dhabi International Book Fair within the framework of the international cultural and tourism promotion of Abu Dhabi.
The ADIBF team held a series of meetings and sessions with publishing specialists from China and the rest of the world, as more than 2,000 participating exhibitors gathered at the 24th Beijing exhibition, with vast attention received from Chinese intellectuals interested in Arabic culture and literature.
The publications of the National Library and the Kalima project attracted a great deal of attention from Chinese distributors and publishers, of which many expressed their desire to purchase books, especially those translated for distribution in the Asia region.
The participation is also part of ADIBF’s international communication and marketing programme, organised by TCA Abu Dhabi, and is one of the largest and fastest-growing book fairs in the MENA region.
Commenting on the Abu Dhabi delegation’s presence in Beijing, Abdullah Majed Al Ali, Acting Executive Director of the National Library Sector at TCA Abu Dhabi, said, "The Beijing International Book Fair is one of the main book fairs offering a chance to meet publishers from the Far East and other parts of the world. The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair seeks to attract more exhibitors by creating greater opportunities for participating publishers.
"This can be achieved by participating in international book fairs to learn of the experiences of other countries in that field, attracting expertise and promoting ADIBF to international audiences."
