Cairo - MENA
Thanks to Arab support, Egypt wins voting on placing Tahtib - a folk Egyptian dancing with sticks - on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
A team from 15 Arab states formed an alliance to support Egypt to win the voting during the meeting of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) in Addis Ababa, the head of the Egyptian delegation attending the meeting said on Thursday.
Algeria, Palestine and Lebanon - that have the right to vote at the UNESCO committee - strongly backed Egypt alongside other Arab states taking part in the committee meeting, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman and Jordan, Nahla Imam said.
Imam highlighted the efforts exerted by the Egyptian Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs to garner support for Egypt in this regard
