Princess Sabeeka receives French Senate delegation

Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), received at SCW headquarters in Riffa a delegation from the French Senate, in the presence of Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh. She lauded strong relations between Bahrain and France and their growth at all levels.

The French delegation listened to a briefing on the achievements of Bahraini women under the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and their increased presence in decision-making, public life and the political field. The delegation was also informed about the march of the Supreme Council for Women since its inception and its programmes within the framework of implementing the national women empowerment strategy. 

The delegation was also updated on the efforts of SCW to develop legislation and services for women to boost family stability, including the issuance of the Family Law, setting up the Family Courts, activating the Family Reconciliation Office, issuing a protection law from family violence, the National Strategy to Protect Women from Family Violence and issuing ministerial resolutions to activate those legislation.

The French Senate delegation commended Bahrain’s women empowerment experience and the high status reached by Bahraini women in various fields. They also praised the role of the Supreme Council for Women, under the presidency of HRH Princess Sabeeka, in this respect, lauding cooperation with the legislature to integrate women’s needs as a main component in the development programmes.
