Indian President Pranab Mukherjee will pay a state visit to China next week, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

"President of the Republic of India Pranab Mukherjee will carry out a state visit to China on May 24-27 upon invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping," Lu Kang said, as quoted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry as saying on Wednesday.

In April, Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar visited China and said that Beijing and New Delhi were close to setting up a military hotline that will help them promptly address incidents on the disputed common border.
