Algiers - APS
The historical drama “Lotfi,” devoted to the fighting career of Colonel Lotfi, one of the charismatic figures of the national liberation war and killed in the battlefield at the age of 26, was previewed Wednesday to Algiers’ press.
Lasting 170 minutes, this biographical work directed by Ahmed Rachedi, is produced by Ministry of Mujahedeen (War Veterans) on the basis of a screenplay co-written by Sadek Bakhouche and the film’s director.
The film relates the career of Colonel Lotfi, whose real name is Benali Boudghene, since his beginnings as an activist in Tlemcen where, with his classmates from high school, he posted the call of 1 November 1954, addressed by National Liberation Front (FLN) to the Algerian people.
“Lotfi” is Rachedi’s third film after "Mustapha Ben Boulaid" (2009) and "Krim" (2015), all treated in the same vein.
The film will be shortly screened in movie theatres.
