Cairo - Arab Today
Silvered Water, Syria Self-Portrait (Ma'a al-Fidda) is "a look at first-hand video accounts of violence in modern-day Syria as filmed by activists in the besieged city of Homs," IMDb synopsis reveals.
An article accompanying the film's screening at Cannes 2014 bore the title: "A necessary, often unbearable documentary that bears vital witness to the horrors of Syria's civil war," capturing the essence of images collected by the filmmakers and presented in the film.
Directed and written by Ossama Mohammad, the documentary was produced by Orwa Nyrabia and Diana El-Jeiroudi in 2014.
The film won Grierson Award at London Film Festival and was nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film at the Asia Pacific Screen Award the same year.
Silvered Water is the only film in AFAC Film Week which does not make its Egypt's premiere since the documentary was already screened during the 36th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF).
The film returns to Cairo and will be screened at Zawya, Odeon Cinema, 4 Abdel-Hamid Said Street, off Talaat Harb Street, Downtown Cairo at 6.30pm.
Producers Orwa Nyrabia and Diana El-Jeiroudi will be in attendance
