Beirut - Arabstoday
The hammer of religious censorship came down once more in Lebanon, this time striking the new film “Tannoura Maxi” directed by Joe Bou Eid. The film is accused of offending the church and the clergy. The story began last summer when the Catholic Information Center called on the General Security Directorate to delete some scenes. On Tuesday afternoon the CIC contacted the Interior Minister calling for him to pull the film from theatres or delete scenes considered to be “offensive to Christianity”. In contrast, the director and the producer denied all charges, stressing that they are ready to defend the movie.
