Delays at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport worsened Monday morning, after hundreds of workers received notice that they were fired.
Passengers at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport on Monday morning reported prolonged delays in plane departures and cargo unloading.
The Workers' Committee at Ben Gurion Airport explained that work is continuing as usual, but dozens of the 250 workers who received notice that they would be fired decided not to show up for work in protest.
On Sunday night, passengers waiting to receive their suitcases experienced a 40-minute delay. However, by Monday morning the passengers were told to return for their suitcases in a few hours.
The delays are a result of the decision to hire temporary workers during the Jewish holiday period, and fire them when the holidays end. This, workers note, is not a new problem at Ben Gurion Airport.
