Fashionistas have the Abu Dhabi bakery on speed-dial
Dubai – Arabstoday
Maison Sucre, the Abu Dhabi-based boutique bakery known for its unique cupcakes and confectionaries, supported this week’s fashion event at the Zayed University, Dubai Campus
.
The theme of the event was ‘Marie Antoinette goes Punk’, and the two-day event featured a variety of activities revolving around the theme, including a showcase of fabulous creations by UAE-based designers, cake-decorating competition, and an amateur fashion design competition for Marie Antoinette-inspired dresses.
The brains behind the event Maitha Maktoum said, “This is a local initiative used as a platform to bring together fashion designers from the UAE and the GCC to promote their talents. It’s our second year of staging the project and we are happy that we have partners like Maison Sucre, with whom we share the same goal of encouraging the youth to pursue their dreams and passion, hoping this would further enrich the future of our country.”
Maison Sucre provided the cakes for the cake-decorating competition and also presented intricately-designed Marie Antoinette cookies to guests as tokens. Dubai’s fashionistas attended the event, among them Rosemin Manji, Mona Bin Kalli and Lady Fozaza.
“It was easy for us at Maison Sucre to agree to take part in this event because we really value any opportunity where we can contribute to the community; more so for this event because this is a sustainable initiative. We just love the fact that we get to be a part of promoting and cultivating local talents, providing venues for them to become productive and contributing members of the society. Who knows, the next big name in the global fashion scene might come from the UAE and she might have been discovered from this event,” said Nadine Maalouf, Founder and Managing Director of Maison Sucre.
