Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week TRUST Moschino Cheap & Chic to have some fun right from the get go – the bag of beauty seeds fastened to the ticket suggested that this might be a bit of fun. And it was. It was like

entering a fruit, veg and flower market this evening as stalls stood to the left, to the right and surrounded the stage that turned out to be the catwalk for the Moschino Cheap & Chic Flower Pot women for spring/summer 2012.
“For centuries, it has been said that if the body is healthy, so is the mind,” cited the show notes – which Moschino cleverly reworked with its own mantra: “Healthy fashion means a healthy body”.

So a literal response in the case of the first look out – a raspberry pink dress complete with pips dotted over it and voluptuous puffed out sleeves to echo the fruit’s shape. There were daisy-strewn shoes on wedges of green velvet grass, raffia woven into hair and dresses that ticked the old “an apple a day” philosophy. The Moschino CC girl is on her way to the farmer’s market and, in raspberry prints, verdant grass skirts and those with cerulean skies stretching out over them, she walks with a spring in her step – because quite literally she is wearing all that we associate with spring.

There were carrot buttons on natty little jackets and watercolour iris prints on maxi sweet gowns, a daisy sequinned-smothered short number and more raspberry moments as rah-rah skirts. Marigold yellow and strong fresh shades complete this girl’s wardrobe and she – like the crowd watching on this evening tucking into apples, grapes and strawberries from the stalls themselves – feel all the better for it. A bow rainbow dress at the end was very cute and had a nostalgic sensibility, while a carrot hat was the subject of a good chuckle and round of applause.
