The office of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (Mother of the Nation), and the office of Atifete Jahjaga, President of Kosovo, yesterday signed an agreement to build the Children Surgery Hospital in Pristina, the capital city of Kosovo.
The agreement was signed by Saeed Eid Al Ghafli, Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs and member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council from the office of Sheikha Fatima, and Atifete Jahjaga, President of Kosovo on behalf of Kosovo.
The gesture came in implementation of the generous initiative of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.
Dr. Maytha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State and advisor to the Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the Ambassador of the UAE in Montenegro, and non-resident Ambassador to Kosovo, Hafsa Abdullah Mohammed Sharif Al Ulama, other officials and the accompanying delegation of the President of Kosovo attended signing of the agreement.
The agreement reflects Sheikha Fatima's interest in providing health care for children in Kosovo and embodies the strong UAE-Kosovan relations.
The hospital provides health care in cases of neonatal diseases of the stomach and intestines, orthopaedics and neurology, nose and throat and urinary tract, endocrine tumours, heart, and blood diseases as well as other specialties.
Commenting on the event, Sheikha Fatima said that providing humanitarian assistance and alleviating the suffering of children in various regions across the world is the best way to enhance interaction among people and spread a culture of peace and love among them.
She added that the hospital will be a sophisticated medical centre and would contribute to providing medical treatment for a lot of children's diseases in Kosovo.
Sheikha Fatima also praised the efforts exerted by Atifete Jahjaga, President of Kosovo, which are aimed at achieving development goals.
The President of Kosovo lauded the support provided by the UAE which embodies the strong relations between the UAE and Kosovo at all levels, thanks to the UAE's wise leadership and noble stances.
Jahjaga extended thanks and appreciation to Sheikha Fatima for her initiative to build this big hospital, stressing that this distinguished facility was named after her, a name that is precious and is dear to the hearts of all the people of Kosovo.
She added that Sheikha Fatima is appreciated by the people of Kosovo in recognition of her humanitarian efforts and unlimited support to people across the world.
Al Ghafli hailed the strong friendship ties between the two countries, noting that building the hospital embodies the strong bilateral relations between the two countries.
He added that this medical institution is a role model in the field of providing latest medical treatment and a symbol of the humanitarian donation made by Sheikha Fatima.
Dr. Al Shamsi highlighted Sheikha Fatima's efforts in the medical field as she gives priority to humanitarian initiatives. She also praised Sheikha Fatima's human interest which went beyond the borders.
Al Ulama said that in the framework of the UAE's approach aimed to provide assistance to all the people across the world, the UAE did not forget Kosovo.
She also reiterated that the UAE has built one of the best hospitals in Kosovo which was named after the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in an honour to the Founder of the UAE.
