Street food seller in Dubai
The Dubai municipality has said over 500 food outlets have failed to acquire a municipal permit before displaying and selling their food outside the premises during the month
of Ramadan, Gulf News has reported.
In addition, the businesses failed to meet the standard level of hygiene.
\"There are thousands of food establishments but not all of them want to sell their food outdoors,\" said Sultan al-Taher, head of food inspection at the civic body.
\"Out of all the shops that have chosen to sell their food outside their premises, 30 percent, which is about 500 shops, have either failed to apply for a permit or sold their food in unhygienic conditions,\" al-Taher added.
He said that all shops without a licence have been banned from selling food outdoors until they meet the municipality\'s health and safety requirements.
