Al Azhar relief convoy arrived in the Nigerian capital Abuja upon the directives by Al Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb and under the supervision of Al Azhar Undersecretary Abbas Shoman.
The convoy was welcomed by a delegation representing the office of Nigerian Mufti Sheikh Ibrahim Saleh al Hussaini and the Egyptian Embassy.
A statement issued on Monday said the head of the convoy Sheikh Mohamed Elabd affirmed that the convoy began its activities by a meeting with the Egyptian ambassador and the Nigerian mufti to prepare a work plan.
The convoy, consists of medical and food aid, aims to support refugees and people affected by terrorist acts in Nigeria.
It also includes Azhar officials and specialized doctors who will be responsible for equipping clinics attached to refugee camps.
