HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, wife of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Dubai Healthcare City Authority today urged efforts to develop governance of the Council and to unify standards of licensing and registration of all health professions, including nursing and midwifery. The Princess gave directives to establish a specialized research center at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Center. In remarks as she chaired the first meeting of UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council for this year, Princess Haya also urged continues training for the nursing staff, exchange of expertise and tapping global experiences. The meeting reviewed the Council's achievements between 2010-2012 and its efforts to boost international cooperation and advance customer service. It also discussed the Council's 2013-2015 strategy and increasing the number of nationals in the nursing workforce. In attendance at the meeting were Acting Minister of Health, Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, Essa Al Maidoor, and others.
