President Abdel Fattah El Sisi left here Saturday for Washington on an official visit to the US in response to an invitation by US President Donald Trump.
The visit comes as part of the two countries' keenness on promoting strategic ties binding Egypt and the US.
Sisi and Trump will discuss ways of promoting ties in the coming phase along with enhancing coordination with the new US administration to restore momentum to Egyptian-US ties.
The visit, which will be the first since Trump took office, will include also discussions on regional and international issues, said Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef.
President Sisi will meet with US officials and members of the Congress, added the spokesman.
He will meet with leaderships of the US Chamber of Commerce and heads of major US companies to probe investment opportunities in Egypt, added the spokesman.
President Sisi will convene with the leaders of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund to discuss ways of promoting cooperation between Egypt and the two international bodies in the various economic spheres, added the spokesman.
