Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has confirmed that his country’s army will continue operations in Yemen as part of the Saudi-led Arab military Coalition.
During his National Day speech on Sunday, President al-Bashir dispelled rumors regarding the withdrawal of Sudanese troops from operations with the coalition.
“Let me also give a particular note of appreciation to the gallant forces that are proudly participating, with exemplary capability that gained the recognition of the observers, in the efforts to restore the legitimacy in Yemen,” al Bashir said.
“This is a participation that was dictated by our religious values, our moral heritage and in staving off terrorism and aggression. And we will continue in this participation until it achieved its noble objectives,” he said.
US sanctions
Al-Bashir expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia, the UAE and other Arab and African countries that helped Sudan in the lifting of US sanctions that lasted 20-years.
Al Bashir declared his full support of the Palestinian efforts to retain control over their land in the face of Israeli aggression.
“Let me greet in your name, the people of Palestine, the persevering and patient people of Palestine despite all forms of siege and aggression that seek to dismember the Palestinian land and confiscate the holy sites, we renew out declaration of fully standing by the Palestinian people in their just cause while they struggle for the victory of Islam and in defense of the Muslim and Christian holy sites in al-Quds,” he said.
