Pyongyang - Muslimchronicle
The top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong Un, has vowed to retaliate after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to destroy Pyongyang in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
Kim said Trump "will face results beyond his expectation" in a statement released early Friday, three days after Trump gave his speech.
Trump said on Tuesday at the General Debate of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly that Washington would have to "totally destroy" the DPRK if the latter continues to threaten it and its allies.
"I am now thinking hard about what response he could have expected when he allowed such eccentric words to trip off his tongue," Kim was quoted by the official Korean Central News Agency as saying.
Kim also accused Trump of uttering "unprecedented rude nonsense that one has never heard from any of his predecessors," saying the threat to "totally destroy" a sovereign state has gone beyond the limit.
"We will consider with seriousness exercising ... a corresponding, highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history," he said.
