Police have undertaken an investigation into the deadly fire of a fireworks factory near Jakarta on Thursday that killed at least 47 workers, and arrested the owner of the plant, two police officers disclosed on Friday.
Spokesman of Jakarta police Argo Yuwono said that one of the purposes of the probe is to find out the cause of the fire in Tanggerang city on the outskirt of Jakarta.
"Investigators will scientifically investigate and at the same time look for the cause of the fire," the spokesman said.
Yuwono said a total of seven witnesses, who allegedly know the incident, have been questioned by the investigators.
The incident has also injured a total of 46 workers of the factory, some of them seriously, according to police.
Police have also arrested the owner of the factory, Indra Liyono, police chief in Tanggerang city Hary Kurniawan said.
"We have sent him (Liyono) to the Jakarta metropolitan police," said Kurniawan.
The factory is operated by PT Panca Buana Cahaya, owned by Liyono.
