Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA, are holding a two-day workshop on nuclear medicine at Dubai Hospital in cooperation with the Dubai Health Authority, DHA, and the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Award for Medical Science.
The workshop, which was inaugurated by Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Saif Kalban, CEO of the Hospitals Services Sector at DHA, saw the experts review national guidelines for cancer screening through the utilisation of imaging procedures.
IAEA experts, Prof V. Sobhan, Consultant in Nuclear Medicine and Head Nuclear Medicine Department, Royal Liverpool University Hospital, UK. Prof. at Salford University and Liverpool University and Prof S. Mirzaei ,Physician for Nuclear Medicine and Physician for General Medicine from Vienna, Austria, Prof. at Vienna University, also spoke about the latest techniques in nuclear medicine, while multiple local speakers also contributed with educational and training activities.
Dr. Jamila Al Suwaidi, Consultant in Radiation at the Department of Medical Education at the DHA, said that the workshops include training on the use of the most sophisticated techniques in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging for diagnosis and treatment of cancer diseases. She added that it opens horizons for exchanges of new information related to progress in nuclear medicine in the oncology field.
The course, which is being held at Dubai Hospital, includes participants from the UAE, Jordan, Iraq, Oman, Yemen, Lebanon and Syria.
