NIHR President receives French parliamentary delegation

President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul received today the delegation of the French-Bahraini Friendship Group at the French national Assembly, led by its Secretary-General, MP Jean-Luc Reitzer, who was accompanied by a number of French MPs and businessmen, currently on a visit to the kingdom. He lauded the advanced status of France in the human rights field.
NIHR Deputy President Abdullah Al Derazi presented a briefing on the establishment and development of the institution since 2009 and its role in raising awareness of human rights. He pointed out the training programmes offered by the institution to students and the law enforcement personnel, underlining its consultative role for the executive, legislative and judicial branches. He also pointed out the institution’s participation in local, regional and international functions on human rights.
The French parliamentary delegation hailed the role of NIHR in promoting human rights in Bahrain, lauding women’s rights development. They stressed the importance of cooperation between the institution and the relevant French parties to hold training programmes aimed at further consolidating human rights.
The meeting was attended by MP Abdulrahman Bumjid, French Ambassador to Bahrain Bernard Régnauld-Fabre and a representative from the Foreign Ministry.
