Finnish Cops

A routine apprehension of an alleged drunken driver turned into a massive chase in central western Finland on Saturday.

Police was shot at from a car it had stopped in Nokia, near Tampere. The car managed to escape and was chased southbound by the police on highway 12.

Police exchanged fire with the vehicle when it was finally reached in Huittinen, some 50 kilometers south of Nokia.

The shooter was injured. The driver and the shooter were detained. Local media said the police had commissioned help from the military.

Police gave no further details of the incident, which is a rare case in Finland.
