Russian Warplane Carrying 160 Service Members Leaves Syria's Hmeimim

The Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft carrying 160 military service members who performed the task of materiel support of the Russian air group in Syria has left Hmeimim airbase and headed for Russia, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry has told reporters.

    The military service members who have left Hmeimim performed the work of fueling aircraft, supplying fuel, water and aircraft ammunition, food as well bath and laundry support, maintenance of equipment and communications. The decision to send them to the place of permanent deployment was taken in connection with the pullout of the main force grouping and reduction in the volume of work, according to Russia's (TASS) News Agency.

    The press service of the Russian Defense Ministry noted Russia's Central Military District on Wednesday evening.

    Besides, an Antonov An-24 Ruslan aircraft of the military transport aviation has left Hmeimim as well. It will deliver to Russia various equipment and three Mil Mi-35 helicopters that performed the task of Hmeimim airbase protection.
