British Prime Minister Theresa May has expressed her concern over the continued blockade by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias of humanitarian aid reaching the Yemeni people as well as their efforts to destabilize the region, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
In a statement issued on Thursday, May hailed the steps taken by the Arab Coalition to keep the Yemeni port of Hodeidah open in order to receive relief supplies and commercial shipments amid the increasing intensity of the Houthi aggression and provocations.
She also expressed deep regret over the thwarted missile attack by the Houthis targeting residential areas in the Saudi capital Riyadh for a second time in less than two months. She was dismayed over Houthis taking pride in targeting civilian areas.
May reaffirmed her country’s support for implementing the UN resolution that banned transportation of weapons to Yemen.
While emphasizing that Saudi Arabia’s concern over its security was legitimate, May expressed her support to UN investigations into the source of the ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward the Saudi capital.
