River Island has announced emerging US singer/songwriter Phlo Finister (pictured) as the face of Chelsea Girl for Christmas, combining her 60s mod style and the brand’s new-vintage inspired collection. Dresses are key for this season with leather pinafores, velvet swing dresses and fringed shifts, while injections of colour brighten up the monochrome palette with emerald green, citrus yellow and bubble-gum pink. Novelty knitwear is teamed with simple black skirts and leggings for everyday wear, while trapeze and body-con dresses feature glitter for disco-inspired eveningwear. Accessories include brightly coloured tights and knee-high boots. Chelsea Girl signature pieces complete the range with oversized cardigans, lace smock dresses and vintage inspired jumpsuits. To coincide with the collection launch, Phlo will be performing live in River Island’s new flagship store, Park House on 21 November.
