The EU Naval Force (EUNAVFOR) announced Tuesday that five boats used by Somali pirates have been destroyed in their first raid against onshore pirate bases, following an earlier extension in interventions that until now were restricted to sea. "We believe this action by the EU Naval Force will further increase the pressure on, and disrupt pirates' efforts to get out to sea to attack merchant shipping and dhows," EUNAVFOR's Operation Commander, Rear Admiral Duncan Potts said.
