Arab economic, social council starts preparatory meetings for Amman summit

The meetings of the Arab League social and economic council kicked off here on Sunday at a ministerial level to set the scene for the draft resolutions to be submitted to the Arab leaders during their 28th summit in Amman on Wednesday.

The meeting will discuss a report by the Arab League chief on joint social and economic action in the Arab region and measures taken by the Arab countries to put into effect the resolutions adopted by Nouakchott summit in July.

The meeting will discuss many issues, including the progress realized in setting up a Greater Arab Free Trade Area, a draft resolution on refugees in the Arab countries, women empowerment and efforts to fight poverty.
