The Secretary-General of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organisation (ARCO), Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al Suhaibani, has praised the leading role played by the United Arab Emirates in continuously supporting humanitarian and charitable works since the era of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan In a statement, Al Suhaibani stressed that the UAE's wise leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has continued its tradition of giving by paying great attention to humanitarian and charitable works, in keeping with the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

He noted in this context the Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which falls on the 19th of Ramadan every year and is observed in memory of the founder of the state, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who passed away on this day.

Al Suhaibani hailed the significant relief and humanitarian efforts exerted by the Emirati Red Crescent (ERC) all over the world, pointing out its comprehensive and quick response to humanitarian crises and disasters.

The Secretary-General of the ARCO also took note of The Reading Nation campaign, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to provide 5 million books for refugee students and students in schools in need all around the world.

He said that the UAE is active and always comes up with new and pioneering ideas to serve humanitarian work and contribute towards upgrading the work of the Arab Organisation at all levels.
