The Low-Income Families Committee, a leading branch of Dar Al Ber Society, ran 13 diverse charity projects in the emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain in the first half of the year for the benefit of vulnerable people.

Khalfan Khalifa Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Dar Al Ber Society, said the projects carried out so far are in line with the ‘Year of Giving’ initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

"We are also grateful to H.H Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, for his relentless support to the Committee," he stated.

Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber, said the Committee spent AED8,053,774 on 13 philanthropic schemes in the first six months of the year.

"Up to 1,626 indigent families, spanning low-income people, students, orphans, people with determination, defaulters, inmates, and patients benefited from these projects," he added.

As many as 404 families received AED2,405,109 as monthly allowance. "This is apart from AED1,837,963 contributed to 203 students, and AED298,438 given to 17 Emirati families for buying basic furniture," he said.

Ali Al Asi, Chairman of the Low-Income Families Committee, said Dar Al Ber maintained 32 houses of Emirati families against AED737,805, while 32 orphans were supported with AED245,800, and eight children with determination were assisted with AED37,000.

Al Asi said they provided health assistance worth AED382,955 to 27 families, and supplied electricity to 40 families for AED272,847.

"Some 17 inmates were assisted with AED753,173, and 200 destitute people were helped to perform Umrah for AED457,600," he added
