The Dar Al Ber Society, which is committed to assisting vulnerable segments of society, has announced that it had sponsored 2,794 orphans from 22 countries in Asia and Africa in the first half of 2017.
Imran Muhammad Abdullah, Head of the Charity Projects Sector, said they sponsored 1,117 orphans in the first three months of this year, and 1,677 were sponsored in the second quarter.
Dar Al Ber Society has been paying a lot of attention to orphans since its inception in 1979, he added.
"We spare no effort to secure the orphans’ financial, social and spiritual needs as advised in Islam and in view of our traditions and the directives of the prudent leadership," he explained.
Hussain Murad Al Balooshi, Manager of the Orphans and Families Department, said the countries covered in the projects spanned Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Egypt, Palestine, and Mauritania.
"The list of other countries included in the orphans projects are Togo, Mali, Senegal, Burundi, Uganda, Niger, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Azerbaijan and the Philippines," Al Balooshi added.
