The General Secretariat of the Khalifa Award for Education today inaugurated its 11th edition for 2017-2018.
The current edition will cover nine areas with 19 categories, including general education, people of determination, innovation in teaching the Arabic language, education and community service, and academic personality and general education, on national and Arab levels.
It will also include the categories of innovative teacher, higher education and innovation in teaching the Arabic language, university teacher and academic research, as well as children’s academic authorship, projects and innovative educational programmes.
The award General Secretariat opened the nomination process, starting from today and ending next December.
The General Secretariat also organised a press conference today to announce the available categories in the new edition, in the presence of Amal Afifi, Secretary-General of the Award, Souad Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Award, Dr. Khalid Al Abri, and Humaid Ibrahim, as well as other members of the award’s executive committee.
At the beginning of the press conference, Afifi stressed the importance of this edition of the award, which will begin the second decade of its journey of excellence and leadership and will highlight its pride in carrying the name of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
She noted that the award has contributed, during its first decade, to realising the renaissance of the nation’s education system and its global advancement, by promoting a culture of excellence while encouraging employees in this vital sector to launch innovative projects and initiatives, to raise the capacities of students and improve their awareness of current scientific and technological developments.
Afifi praised the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, and Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates.
She also praised the unlimited support of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award, for its success, as well as his desire to make it among the top international awards in the field of education
