Eng. Abdulrahman Al Hammadi, Under-Secretary for Supervision and Supporting Services at the Ministry of Education, stated that the Ministry is working on improving the learning environment in the nation’s schools, in compliance with its strategy to improve all aspects of the national education process.
During his inspection of one of the senior schools in Ajman, he stressed that the ministry’s recently implemented development plans represent its exerted overall efforts and it has also developed the infrastructure of this system, to satisfy the needs of the community and realise the overall development vision for education in the country.
Al Hammadi was accompanied during the inspection by Fawzia Gharib, Assistant Under-Secretary of the Schools Operations Sector; Ali Hassan, Director of the Ajman Educational Directorate; Eng. Majid Al Shamsi, Director of Facilities Administration, and other senior officials.
The school they visited has been listed as part of an integrated project, to be launched by the ministry at end of the current school year, which aims to improve the performance of government schools in Ajman and all regions of the country, comprising of 24 schools and 16 nurseries, with seven nurseries in Ajman, 11 schools in Sharjah, 4 schools in Dubai, a nursery in Umm Al Qaiwain, and nine nurseries in Ras al-Khaimah.
During his visit, Al Hammadi viewed the overall development work of the school as a model, including the overall maintenance of its external concrete building, the security in its internal halls and the installation of an air conditioning system, as well as its creation of green areas for studying and a water garden. The school’s development work also included raising the standards of safety and security in all its facilities.
He was also briefed about the state of the school before and after its development while touring its facilities, which include 26 classrooms with a capacity of 750 students each, as well as three science laboratories, a digital manufacturing laboratory known as "Fab Lab," a sports hall, a food hall, a common area for the school’s administrative staff, and a library.
Fawzia Gharib stated that the ministry is working to raise the capacity of its senior schools to serve its educational goals and programmes that will enhance the performance of local students, by providing vital facilities such as labs and the latest smart learning devices. She added that the ministry is also considering the needs of "people of determination," by providing them with suitable hall ways and other facilities.
Eng. Al Shamsi stated that the ministry has completed a field survey of all its schools, which researched their current state and allowed them to plan strategies to achieve the best use of their various facilities. He also highlighted the desire of the ministry to achieve environmental sustainability in its school buildings, by using natural materials in their operation.
