Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Abdullah II Award for Free Works and Entrepreneurship said that unemployment among young Jordanians is a top priority for Jordan, adding the bloated public sector can no longer employ more people.
Ensour added in remarks during the awards' distribution ceremony, that the government is working relentlessly to launch capital projects that create job opportunities and regulate the labor market, leading to the employment of Jordanian laborers and the implementation of the national strategy for employment.
The prime minister highlighted the importance of expanding micro and small sized projects, and urged economic leaders and planners to work for that end as it will solve many problems.
Labour Minister Nidal Qatamin spoke about the challenges facing the local labor market due to the current situation in the region. He also stressed the importance of pressing ahead with the implementation of the training and employment policies in line with the royal vision and upon the directives of the government.
During the ceremony, Ensour distributed awards to the winning projects and honored the best three women empowerment projects. He also honored national institutions supporting the award.
