Saudi Arabia and China discuss boosting cooperation in multiple fields

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defence, has received the Vice Premier of the State Council of People's Republic of China, Zhang Gaoli.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, the Crown Prince and the Vice Premier co-chaired the meeting of the Saudi-Chinese High-level Joint Committee. They discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the political, security, commercial, energy, investment, cultural and technical fields, as well as regional and international developments, and the efforts of each country towards them.

Prince Salman and Vice Premier Gaoli signed the minutes of the second session of the high-level joint committee between the two governments, the SPA said.

The two leaders have signed a number of Memoranda of Understanding, MoUs, including a partnership project for the development of desalination projects using high-temperature and gas-chilled reactors in the Kingdom, an MoU to establish a joint investment fund, and media cooperation MoU between the Saudi and Chinese media authorities, as well as an MoU between the China National Petroleum Corporation and the Geological Survey to further tighten the cooperation between the two sides in exploring and assessing the sources of uranium and thorium.

The two parties also signed a five-year plan for joint action for the mechanism of enhancing cooperation and mutual commercial visits between the Saudi Ministry of Commerce and Investment and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, along with three other MoUs in several areas.
