The United Nations Special Envoy to Syria Steffan de Mistura said Thursday that he feels sorry for the deteriorating humanitarian condition in the Arab country, adding that there are about 5.8 Syrians who are in need of urgent aid.
This remark came by de Mistura during heading the meeting of the representatives of the international contact group on the humanitarian condition in Syria.
He further underlined that about 56 tons of humanitarian aid were given to the Syrians by air in the besieged areas.
The UN envoy reiterated that there are international efforts exerted to remove mines from Palmyra archaeological city.
Concerning the negotiations, he underscored that he hopes that the new round of the Syrian-Syrian dialogue, held in Geneva, will be successful.
