Up to 14 militants have been killed as government forces targeted Taliban positions in Afghan southern Helmand province over the past 24 hours, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here on Tuesday.

The operations, according to the statement have covered parts of Nad Ali and Gereshk districts which led to physical elimination of 10 insurgents in Nad Ali district and four others in Gereshk districts respectively.

The security forces have also seized two motorcycles, one rocket launcher and some amount of ammunition during the operations, the statement added.

Taliban militants haven't commented.
