Hu Jiabing, a man who drove his car into a crowd killing four and injuring 18 in east China's Jiangxi Province, was executed on Tuesday.

The execution was carried out by the intermediate people's court of Yichun city.

Hu, 44, drove his vehicle into pedestrians near a middle school in Fengxin County on the morning of January 19, 2016.

Most of the victims were students. Witnesses said Hu tried to commit suicide after the incident.

In 2013, Hu was sentenced to 11 months in prison for obstruction of public affairs.
