Pope Francis of the Vatican praised on Friday the UN initiatives aimed at serving humanity and protecting international peace and security.
In his address to the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, Pope Francis called on everyone to respect others and make use of their capacities within the international community.
He further thanked UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for his efforts to maintain human dignity and help people in conflict zones as well as protecting the future of the planet and coming generations.
At last, all attendees stood a minute of silence for all those who sacrificed their souls for the UN.
