Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark's Diocese on Wednesday asserted that the Coptic Church is working in the daylight and has nothing to hide or be ashamed of.
In press statements, the pope added that the Church is speaking in one voice, namely through its spokesman Bishop Paulus Halim.
The Church also has a media center that responds to all questions with transparency and clarity.
The pope warned of rumors via social media websites, which he described as becoming a fertile land for attacking the Church. He cited as an example an attack against him when he donated one million pounds to the New Suez Canal project. He was accused of squandering the funds of the poor.
He explained however that these funds have been collected through donations from Coptic expatriates in favor of the new canal.
