Santos striker Neymar  was crowned Brazil\'s player of the year yesterday after a fine season in the Campeonato, scoring 13 goals as his side struggled to a tenth-placed finish. Neymar did not attend last night\'s ceremony in Sao Paulo as he was on his way to Tokyo to compete in the FIFA Club World Championship. The 19-year-old, who also won the best striker\'s award, has been a target for a number of top European clubs but extended his contract with the Brazilian side last month to 2014.
