I have some exciting news for you and I would like to offer you an exclusive interview with Emirati entrepreneur Noora Al Alawi, 26, who is the brainchild behind Nuna Atelier women's clothing brand.
Nuna Atelier is proud to introduce a new product to the fashion industry, the revolutionized concept of a new garment. The oversized throw-on that is inspired by Abaya, the national dress of UAE and Nuna Atelier is the only fashion label in the world that carries this style innovation. The core idea of the brand is to introduce that type of ethically manufactured throw-on to the world.
She is available for interviews to talk about her trip to Cambodia and how it enlightened her about the fashion industry and also what she plans to do drive her small business into the retail sector.
After going around from supplier meetings to temples in the South-East Asian gem in Siem Reap, she gained inspiration but also insights on sustainable fashion versus consumerism. “Whether we like to believe it or not, fashion connects us all. It is one of the 3 first tasks you do in your day. After brushing your teeth and making your bed, you are wearing the clothes.''
"Whether or not you do it in style, you are still considered to play a part in the fashion industry. Being a consumer doesn't mean you have to be stylish. The fashion industry is marketed in a way that looks very vain and out of this world perfect but actually there is a lot of hours, investment and labor that goes into the fashion innovation and design.”
“Fashion is the closest thing to your skin” she states. ''If I am what I eat, then the same way a person who is health conscious they should be fashion conscious. It is also the responsibility of a clothing company to find the balance between profit and Fair Trade. That means being fair to everyone within the supply chain.”
After 2 years of research on the supply chain, visiting cities in China, Hong Kong, Philippines and Japan, she considers high street fashion just as bad as junk food. “To wear affordable and up to date clothing just to satisfy your fashion cravings is actually a process of laborers working with low wages and harsh conditions, using materials filled with chemicals and colors. ''
