Jerry Springer is to host Baggage on the Road, a spinoff of his popular comedic dating series Baggage, GSN has announced.
The cable network said it has ordered 20 episodes of the traveling edition of the matchmaking competition show, which will stop during its first season in Austin, Texas; Tampa, Fla.; Baton Rouge, La.; and Storrs, Conn.
Baggage on the Road is scheduled to premiere Jan. 7. Baggage debuted in 2010 and has run for four seasons.
Per the rules of the game, one contestant chooses from three potential partners, all of whom come with their own "quirky, annoying and sometimes truly shocking physical and emotional 'baggage' that could eliminate them from the competition," GSN said in a news release.
"With Springer guiding the fun, contestants will be required to reveal the various intimate secrets and hidden flaws -- housed inside literal suitcases -- that typically aren't revealed on a first date. Eventually, only one suitor will win a date with the contestant... as long as that person can also accept the contestant's baggage in a final role-reversal round."
Springer's syndicated chat program The Jerry Springer Show is now in its 24th season.
