West Indies’ cricketing star Dwayne Bravo announced plans to take his talents to the dance floor by joining an Indian celebrity dance competition, months after making waves with his acclaimed hip hop anthem “Champion.”
“I am very excited to be a part of this show and to do something different. I just want to have fun and enjoy,” Bravo, 33, told reporters Friday ahead of his first performance in Jhalak Dikhla Ja, the Indian version of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
“These days, cricket and entertainment go together... Dancing is definitely harder than cricket,” said Bravo, who was a part of the West Indies squad that played against Pakistan in a Twenty20 series last month.
The all-rounder might well take inspiration from former England bowler Darren Gough who won the third series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2005.
Bravo launched the track “Champion” in Mumbai in March during the World Twenty20 competition which his side went on to win after beating England.
The lyrics of the song mention various sporting heroes and political icons, with a special shoutout to his big-hitting teammate Chris Gayle.
