Bahrain has reiterated a zero-tolerance policy towards companies that challenge a ministerial ban on midday outdoor work during July and August. With a ban on open air work from noon to 4pm, the scorching hours of the day, coming into effect on Friday, the labour ministry said that violators would be made to pay fines ranging between BD50 and 300 for every labourer found toiling. Sabah Al Dossary, the labour undersecretary, said the inspection teams would visit construction sites to ensure the ban is implemented. Several Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have been implementing similar bans. From / Gulf News
